Press Release
Nilpeter's press innovations set to pull in the crowds
This year's LabelExpo promises to be a groundbreaking event for Nilpeter. Not only is it launching a new generation of rotary offset presses and a new type of UV-flexo packaging presses, it will also introduce its own process-colour inkjet printer.

Once again the Danish press manufacturer will occupy one of the largest stands at the show, covering most aspects of self-adhesive labelling and flexible packaging. This year the theme is 'People to People', based on the company's singular approach to doing business and giving guidance with a personal touch rather than just selling technology for its own sake. For those seeking information on the latest narrow web technology the message is plain: 'Get Inside and Get Insight'.

New MO-4 - takes offset to a higher level

Developed from the successful MO-3300 press, the MO-4 takes high quality offset production of labels and packaging a stage further. With a web width of 406 mm (16 inches) it retains the same flexible platform technology, allowing users to include UV-flexo, rotary screen, letterpress and gravure print processes, plus hot and cold foiling. Instead of conventional heavy all-metal two-cylinder cassettes or inserts, the MO-4 features Nilpeter's patented sleeve system for the plate and blanket cylinders. Their lightweight polycarbonfibre construction allows fast changes of repeat lengths in a range from 18 to 25 inches with reduced tooling costs. Running with precise bearer-to-bearer contact and a servo driven all-metal impression cylinder, the sleeve system ensures the best of offset quality with minimal dot gain. Programmable inking and moisture curves ensure no dot gain at alternating speeds. The same sleeving technology is also used for the plate cylinders and anilox rolls when running with optional flexo modules. In fact, the MO-4 shares many of the parts and ancillaries found on the FA-4 modular UV-flexo press. This obviously reduces the cost of tooling for owners of both press types.

New FA-6 UV-flexo press for film-based packaging

The FA-6 UV-flexo press is the latest addition to the popular FA-Line and Nilpeter's first dedicated roll-to-roll flexible packaging press. It has a maximum web width of 558 mm (22 inches). Servo drives control all the main functions of this gearless press, allowing the handling of films from 20 to 300 microns thick with quick changeovers between substrates. Other features of this high performance press include sleeve/plate technology and an optional dual unwind for inline laminating.

New FB-3300 Servo UV-flexo label and packaging press

Receiving its European debut, the FB-3300 S is part of the FB-Line of modular UV-flexo presses. Its ergonomically designed print units allow fast adjustments and rapid anilox roll changes. The servo-driven press has a maximum web width of 350 mm (13.75 inches) and produces PSAs and flexible packaging at a top speed of 228 m/min. (750 ft/min.). New types of UV-curing units fitted with integral water-cooled chill rollers - assist the converting of heat-sensitive materials. Options include screen process and hot foil modules.

Worldwide debut for Nilpeter's colour inkjet printer – the Caslon Unit

LabelExpo will mark Nilpeter's entry into the four-colour and variable printing inkjet market. Named Caslon (after the 18th century English typefounder), the module uses Xaar's latest drop-on-demand print heads with UV-curable inks. It can operate as a roll-fed stand-alone unit, or run inline with the FA-Line UV-flexo series or the MO-series of offset-based platform presses.
The electronic systems controller allows Caslon modules to print variable data printing on the fly, or print single copies of full-colour labels on practically any material. Depending on choice of greyscale levels, the Caslon prints from 25 to 50 m/min., making it one of the industry's fastest inkjet printers of its type. Unlike many other digital devices, the Caslon has been designed to run with minimal servicing.
